Why is there a gap between the barn door and the wall? Barn doors are designed to sit on the outside of the wall, which naturally creates a small gap between the door and the wall. This gap is influenced by several factors, including: Skirting or Trim: The skirting of your home often creates a natural space between the wall and the door. Mounting Timber: As part of our installation process, we include a mounting timber. This is a crucial structural component, providing essential support to the wall and ensuring the tracks and door are securely and correctly installed. To ensure the best coverage, we craft our doors approximately 100mm wider than the opening. While this effectively covers the space, a gap between the door and the wall will always remain because of the door’s positioning on the exterior of the wall. At this stage, we do not offer additional products to reduce this gap. Based on our expertise, we have found that such solutions are not efficient in achieving the desired result.
